Mini language lesson #14: Hungarian proverbs, sayings vol. 2

Proverbs form an important part of all languages because they mostly originate from historic times and folk culture. They spread as a word-of-mouth until they become indispensable elements in the given language. This is why it’s good to know a few, because you’re bound to encounter them at some point. So why not do a little pre-study with us? 😉 Be the one to impress your Hungarian friends or colleagues with a classic proverb 🙂

Our readers seemed to like our previous article about proverbs, so we thought it would be a great idea to continue the pattern. Don’t worry, they are not too hard to remember, plus you can hear them quite often. This is part two of the previous episode of the mini language lesson series, and you can expect even more to come 🙂

Keep in mind that we are not linguists in any way, we’re just as dazzled by the curiosities of the Hungarian language as foreigners are. So this series doesn’t aim to explain the etymology of words, it’s more of a fun take on our language.
